Polidentspinning toothbrushHomemade Denture Cleanser -- Combine 1 teaspoon water softener, 1 teaspoon liquid bleach, and 8 ozs. water and soak dentures in the solution for 10 to 15 minutes daily. Scrub with a denture brush and rinse well before replacing them in your mouth.
CAUTION: Do not use this or any solution containing bleach if you wear a partial denture that has metal, wire clasps, cast chrome, or gold frame.

Ivory soapTo Make Soap Last Longer -- Keep the bar unwrapped for a month before using. Try this one -- IT REALLY WORKS! When I get a new soap, I am in the habit of unwrapping another soap and leaving it in the closet for the next time I'm out of soap and usually it is a long enough time.
Dove soapRecycle Soap Slivers -- Place a few slivers of the same type of soap (facial or deodorant--don't mix the two types) in a blender, cover with water, and whirl for a couple of minutes. Slowly add more pieces (again, same type of soap) until you have a smooth, thin consistency. Pour into a pump-type dispenser and there you are -- free liquid soap!
Ivory soapHOMEMADE Soap Balls -- Be sure all the slivers are the same kind of soap (either deodorant or face soap). Grate into a large can (like a coffee can), add a little water, and place the can in a medium-size saucepan of water on the stove over medium heat. When soap has melted, remove the can, using potholders; carefully pour onto a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper or aluminum foil. When soap is cool enough to handle, roll into small balls, let harden.

DawnEasy Brush and Comb Cleaning -- Fill the bathroom sink with hot water and add a couple of squirts of dishwashing liquid or shampoo. Swish everything around in the soapy water and let soak for 30 minutes or so. Then run the wide end of a comb through the brush bristles to remove hair and hairspray residue, etc.. Drain water from the sink and rinse each item thoroughly under hot running water. Place on towel with brushes' bristles-sides down; let drip dry.
OR Put water into the bathroom sink, add a small glug of ammonia and then let combs and brushes soak for a while. Brush combs with brushes and clean both at the same time. Then whisk the brush or a sponge around the sink, let the water run out, and rinse all at the same time.
pinStoring Barrettes -- When you have long hair, usually the combs, barrettes, etc. are a mess in the bathroom. Tack horizontally 8 separate lengths of 1" ribbon with fancy tacks to the back of a bathroom cupboard door. Attach all your hair combs, barrettes and other hair accessories to the ribbons and you can tell at a glance where each item is.

Nail PolishLONGER LIFE -- Nail Polish should be stored in the refrigerator. It will go on smoother and have a longer life.

nail polishCotton from Medicine Bottles -- Don't throw this cotton away; I save them and use them for nail polish removing. They work great and I have already paid for it when I bought the medicine. I keep a bag of them in the bathroom so when I open a new bottle, I just add it to the others.

atomizerToo Much Perfume? -- If you ever suspect you've overdone your scent, saturate a cotton ball with alcohol and dab it where you applied the perfume. The alcohol with subdue the smell without changing it.
wooden spoonPerfume STOPPER STUCK!!! -- Mix ½ teaspoon glycerin (available at drugstores) with ½ teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon rubbing alcohol. Dribble the mixture a little at a time around the stopper; let it sit for several days. Then gently wiggle the stopper. If it doesn't come loose, add more mixture. If it still needs a kick start, tap the bottle neck very gently with a wooden spoon.
